Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Clinches inaugural Endurance ride in Capital
Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Juma Al Maktoum clinched the 120-km inaugural endurance ride of the season held at Bou Theib Endurance Village, Al Khatem, Abu Dhabi, on Saturday, October 31, 2009. The CEI-2* 120-km Al Ain Endurance Cup kick started the season in Abu Dhabi with a hectic schedule in the months to come. As many as 25 riders took part in this five-phased ride and 13 of them successfully completed the ride distance resulting in over 50 per cent success. Sheikh Rashid was riding Toro and completed the distance in 05:21:59 riding on an average speed of 22.36 kmph. Sultan Ahmed Al Baloushi won the second place partnering Elphyn Manfred in a timing of 5:35:06 riding on an average speed of 21.48 kmph. Third place went to Thani Mohammed Al Muhairi who was riding Gazyl Al Sundari. His timing was 5:54:38 and he maintained an average speed of 20.30 kmph. The day also featured CEI 1* 100-km ride for Junior and Young Riders which had a field of 32 youngsters, out of whom 14 riders completed the four-looped event. In this category, first place went to Rashed Ahmed Al Bloushi who was riding Trajano. Covering the distance in 3:39:40 seconds, Al Bloushi was riding on an average speed of 27.31 kmph. He was a consistent rider finishing all the loops in the first place eventually emerging victorious in the first place. Khalifa Ghanim Al Marri and Kaja Tulsk finished in the second and third places riding Little Joe Fox and Fenwick Cadenza in a timing of 3:48:50 and 3:50:35 respectively with an average speed of 26.22 kmph and 26.02 kmph. Two Federation Qualifiers of 40 km and 80 km were also part of the day which attracted a huge amount of interest from a majority of horse lovers from the country. Taleb Dhaher Al Muhairi, Secretary General, Emirates Equestrian Federation and several senior officials from the Bou Thieb Endurance Village were present on the occasion.
