Preparations in full swing for President's Cup
The President of the UAE Show Jumping Cup will start off with warm-up competitions on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at the scenic Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club in Abu Dhabi from 10 am onwards. Hectic activity is being seen at the Ghantoot Polo Club venue with preparations under way to welcome one of the biggest show jumping events ever to be held in the region. It is a first time for Abu Dhabi and the Capital has all the reason to get excited about it. Taleb Dhaher Al Muhairi, Secreatry General, Emirates Equestrian Federation, which is organising the event, said that it is the biggest ever show jumping event witnessed in the UAE and will likely to be an annual feature. He thanked His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nayhan for extending his support to organise such an event in the capital city of Abu Dhabi. "It is a great feeling for the Organsing Committe and all those involved in the President Cup to host such an event and also to see the world class jumpers in action on our own soil" . "It is not every day that we rub shoulders with world champions and Olympic medallists and this event gives us and also the local jumpers an ideal opportunity to exchange lot of expertise." At a whopping prize amount of Euros 512,000 at stake and the world's top jumpers in fray to grab the coveted Longines Nation Cup and Emaar The President of the UAE Show Jumping Cup, all roads will lead to the Ghantoot Club from february 4 to 6, 2010, when the actual competitions will take place. The competitions are held in cooperation with the Federation Equestre Internationale, FEI, the international governing body for all equestrian activities in the world. The inaugural ceremony will take pace at the Ghantoot Club on Thursday, February 4, 2010, from 6 pm onwards and it is open for the public. The same day will witness CSI 1* Maximus Air Cargo Trophy- Two Phases Jumping competition with a prize amount of Dh 15,000 and will begin at 12.30 pm. At 3 pm, CSI1* EEF Trophy will be staged with a prize money of Euros 20,000 on offer. The first qualifier for Grad Prix- sponsored by Maximus cargo with a prize amount of Euros 25,000 will be held at 8 pm. Friday will be the day to look forward with the staging of the Longines Nations Cup - CSIO5* Euro 100,000 jumping competition which will start at 4 pm. Friday morning will feature CSIO5* Dubai Racing Speed Cup with Euros 25,000 to be given away and at 1.30 pm the competition will be held for the Ghantoot Trophy( Accumulator Jumping competition, CSI1*, Dh 20,000 prize money). On Saturday, the competitions will begin at 10 am with the CSI1* Meydan GP Jumping Competitions with Dh 25,000 to be awarded as prize money. The Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club Prize- competition against the clock- with Euros 30,000 purse will be held at 12.30 pm. And the much awaited Emaar The President of the UAE Show Jumping Cup Grand Prix will he held at 4 pm with Euros 300,000 kept aside as prize money. Three cars are on offer in the raffle for the lucky winners along with several other prizes every day with many attractive activities for children. There will be a separate Heritage Village with kids entertainment area, food courts and other features to attract the young and the old. Apart from Emaar and Longines, other sponsors for the championship include Maximus Cargo, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Meydan, Al Masood Automobiles, and Dubai Racing.
