Hajri emerges Emirates Jumping Champion
Mohammed Ghanim Al Hajri was declared the Emirates Show jumping Champion at the end of the three-day event held from March 18 to 20, 2010 at The Palm Resorts and Sports Club, Al Ain. Hajri was riding Shakira 94 for the Category A riders and cleared the two rounds in 87.43 seconds and 50.97 seconds respectively with no faults. Second place went to Abdullah Mohammed Al Marri who paired with Vallee D' Alezan to clear the rounds in 84.83 seconds and 48.21 seconds. Omar Ghazi Khoory, who partnered with Randor K, managed to get the third place. There was a strong contention for the coveted championship cup, which was exclusively for the UAE nationals. Over 100 riders were in attendance to take part in different Categories including A, B, C and D and Open Class at Championship which entered the 11th year this season. All nationalities were allowed to participate in the Open Class every day. The event, organised and coordinated by the Emirates Equestrian Federation, was held under the patronage of EEF Chairman HE Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyn and The Palms Resort and Sports Club Chairman HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan. The Palm Sports Resort opening its doors for the first time for such a big equestrian event, which attracted a huge crowd of onlookers and jumping fans. The Championship comprised competitions each taking place on a different day. The total penalties incurred at the end of the three competitions were added up to determine the final placing. In another category of equal importance, Category B, Nadia Abdul Aziz Al Taryam won the first place partnering Belise. She finished the two rounds without any faults in a timing of 72.13 and 57.65 seconds respectively. Sheikh Ali Al Qassimi with Tisanto finished second and Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi finished third on Natalie 079. Sheikha Ali Jmal Al Naomi was the winner of the Category C with her horse Ulivia. Haitham Tawfeeq Al Dhaheri and Jumper Lanleya cooperated well enough to finish in the second place in this Class where the third place went to Mohammed Abdullah Al Katbi who rode Koki. In another featured class Category D, Hamad Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi finished in the first place riding Conzalas. Mubarak Ibrahim Al Nakhi on Lewis and Abdullah Salem Jumaa Al Zaabi on Centurio 9 finished in the second and third places respectively. The first two riders cleared the rounds without faults and Salem Juma had accumulated four faults. A total amount of Dh 235,000 was distributed among the winners Mr Taleb Dhaher Al Muhairi, Secretary General, Emirates Equestrian Federation, while distributing the prizes, along with other officials from The Palm Resort, said that The Federation was holding the Championship for the first time in Al Ain Club, the outcome of which has been very fruitful. He hoped that there will be more such joint ventures in the near future.
