The Office of the Brand of Abu Dhabi and the Emirates Equestrian Federation in collaboration with Flash Entertainment unveiled a new photography exhibition at the Abu Dhabi Corniche Beaches on June 17, 2010. The exhibits feature images from The President of the UAE Cup Series – the Original Arabian Purebred Classic Series. The exhibits will be on display until October 15, 2010 The exhibition is to showcase 15 years of Arabian horse racing success. Established in 1994 by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to promote and celebrate the Arabian horse globally, the President of the UAE Cup Series was the first international Purebred Arabian horse race series and today is still considered the premier racing series for the breed. “The 2010 Series races are taking place throughout Europe and the United States this summer. Locally, we aim to engage the UAE community and stimulate their interest in the beauty, strength and history of the Arabian Purebred horse,” said Mr. Taleb Dhaher Al Muhairi, Secretary General, Emirates Equestrian Federation. The Galleria is designed to celebrate a significant and enduring aspect of the UAE culture and heritage: The Purebred Arabian horse. The images are a journey of the past 15 years, offering a glimpse into the breed’s history in the UAE. Many of the archived images have never before been publicly displayed. “We are honoured to share many rare images and quotes from Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The exhibit offers fascinating insight into our enduring connection with the Arabian horse. And, we are proud that Abu Dhabi continues to respect the value of the Arabian horse in its modern day culture,” said Reem Yousef Al Shemari, General Manager of the Office of the Brand of Abu Dhabi. The Galleria also showcases images of Purebred Arabian horses taken by talented UAE-based photographers including Ahmed Al Yehyai, Andrew Watkins, Kholloud Al Muraikhi, Omar Abdulrahman Al Zaabi and Tariq Dajani. “The stunning images by up-and-coming local talent illustrates how photography is an effective way to connect the younger generation with their history,” added Al Shemari. The Emirates Equestrian Federation (EEF), earlier established as the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation by a Presidential decree, opened its offices in Abu Dhabi under the Chairmanship of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council. The backbone of the country’s equestrian activities, the EEF was established to fulfill the vision of Sheikh Zayed - keen lover of horses and an ardent believer in the continuation of the country's heritage and history – which was to ensure that today’s youth is aware of their forefathers' deep involvement in equestrian activities. The Federation promotes endurance riding, flat racing and show jumping, by organizing local and international events, as well as, assisting the UAE riders to train and compete overseas. The Federation also enacts rules and regulations in accordance with international standards. www.uaeequafed.ae The Office of the Brand of Abu Dhabi, OBAD, is a government entity, established by the Executive Council resolution number 48 in 2007.
